David Carment AM is Emeritus Professor of History at Charles Darwin University, where he was also Dean of the Faculty of Law, Business and Arts. He is the author of numerous publications on Australian and North Australian history. Active in community and professional history organisations, he is a former President of the Australian Historical Association.

Chris O’Brien is an environmental historian with long-standing interests in weather, climate, land, place and culture in northern Australia. Lured to the NT by curiosity, Chris enjoyed several lengthy stints in Darwin between 2003 and 2016: first as a beach bum, then as a PhD student and finally as a postdoctoral researcher. His first sojourn sparked an abiding interest in the region’s weather and climate, and how it has come to be understood. This led to a PhD in History at The Australian National University and more stints in the Top End. Today Chris lives on the Hunter coast of NSW.

Ann McGrath AM is Distinguished Professor of History and the Kathleen Fitzpatrick ARC Laureate Fellow at The Australian National University. She has published on gender and colonialism in Australia and North America and on deep history, as well as on the writing of history. She has produced and directed films and has worked on public enquiries and museum exhibitions. Her first academic position was at the Darwin Community College, now Charles Darwin University.
